WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE HAVEN?

The numbers just keep growing!  Violet started keeping records in 1994.  Since that time the Haven has taken in nearly 2,000 animals!

Most of these have been cats and kittens, and the majority have been abandoned.  (Incidentally, by law restriction have prevented us from taking in dogs, but we have been able to find good homes for many needy canines.)

As the number of animals has grown, so too have the requirements of care.  At any given time, there can be as many as 60 cats at the Haven. On a weekly basis we go through:

bullet30 cans and six large bags of feline food
bulletthree 40 lb. bags of litter (and we're very frugal with it!)
bullet45 loads of washing and drying of bedding, towels, etc.

Health care costs average $2880 per month.  Remember, we vaccinate, deworm, and spay/neuter every animal who comes to us.  We also have all cats tested for feline immunovirus and leukemia, and if dental or other special veterinarian work is needed, it's done.  No animal is ever put down at the Haven  if there is any other possible option, regardless of the expense.

There is a tremendous toll on the premises (Violet's own home).  Maintenance costs are high because of the sheer number of animals who live at the Haven and have free run of the house.

Average monthly expenses are now $ 3750. up $250 from last year.  Next year will undoubtedly show an increase again.  This is why we're constantly in need of funds!

Neglected cats, come to us suffering from starvation and often have severe dental decay and other problems stemming from malnutrition.

They must be fed high nutrient food to attain recovery.

Two of our volunteers are even cooking poultry for meat and broth to add to the cats diet.

WE NEED!

GOOD QUALITY KITTEN FOOD  (Medi-CalŪ, Techni-CalŪ or Lams)

High calorie, top of the line adult food for special needs cats
